2007 Chardonnay Musque
VQA Niagara-on-the-Lake
This wine has amazingly heady aromas of ripe apples, rose, orange blossoms, sugared lemons and peach. Unlike other Chardonnays, it has an intense palate dominated by fruit and floral characteristics. Give this wine a try with smoked salmon, traditional cheese fondue, spicy foods, lobster, foie gras, meat pies, chicken and pork. Drink now or age up to 3 years. Serve chilled.
The Accolades
“Medium straw; sweet pear nose, quite intense; medium-bodied, fruity with an aromatic note in mid-palate, finishing dry with lively acidity. 4 stars (out of 5)” Tony Aspler, A Wine Lover’s Diary, June 25, 2008
“One of the nicest Musques I have tried in quite some time (let’s say a month or two). Great floral and perfume notes on the nose; lemon and pear mingle in the mouth with a touch of apple and a pleasant dry finish complements the whole ensemble.” Michael Pinkus, Ontario Wine Review, July 8, 2008
“This is a simply delightful Musqué with an aromatic lift of peach, flowers, bubble gum and spice. Medium bodied and dry, the palate resonates with peach and citrus as well as perfumed finish. Very good length and ideal partner with pineapple chicken or as an aperitif. Score – 87” Evan Saviolidis, Tidings Magazine, October 2008
“A true, aromatic musqué, with typical perfume, green apple, honeydew melon. Dry, fullish, moderate plus acidity and generous alcohol. This is a big, perfumed mouthful of wine that should best be enjoyed in its youthful freshness. Score: 88” John Szabo, Wine Access, September 2008 |
